A New, Unpublished Poem

Hi, Friend.
It’s the last day of National Poetry Month, and just this week a new poem arrived. I was a little startled! I’ve been working on essays, so maybe the poems have been hesitant to arrive, knowing I’m preoccupied. Luckily, when a piece of writing decides the time is right to make itself known, it speaks above the other chatter. I heard this one loud and clear, and grabbed my pen.
