Hi, Friend.
I’m here with a little pep talk, in case you need one. I’ve been thinking a lot about second (and third, and fourth) chances. If today wasn’t your day, there’s tomorrow—and the day after that, and the next one, and the next one. If this week (month, year) wasn’t your week (month, year), there are more coming.
I think you can see why “Live like today is your last” is not my mantra. I’m more a “Trust this isn’t the last canvas you’ll get to paint” kind of person.
If you believe you have more days—and more chances—coming, you’ll play more, experiment more, take different risks. Whatever you’re doing now doesn’t have to be perfect, because there’s always tomorrow. You’re free to make mistakes, free to fail, and free to try, try again.
I recently came across a note-to-self from Keep Moving—something I wrote as a reminder to myself during a time of big endings. That time in my life felt so hard and so high-stakes, I had no idea how I’d get through it and who I’d be on the other side.
I did get through it. Turns out, I’m still me.
Every ending is also a beginning. When something doesn’t work out—personally, professionally—it makes space in your life for something else that might. Whatever happened yesterday, or last week, or six months ago, or ten years ago, you have today. New day! New canvas! You get to keep trying, exploring new possibilities, and surprising yourself.
So, breathe. Unclench your jaw, lower your shoulders, and breathe. You’ve got this.
Love,
Maggie
PS: New playlist alert, in case you want to listen.
If this isn’t riding The Magnum in the dark, I don’t know what is. Thank you friend, for sharing your hard earned wisdom. Really grateful for your words.
Good morning, I just wanted to stop in to say that I love this post and this playlist has gotten me through a long (already) week. Playlists are so personal. You can imagine the person who created it making the choices to create this particular arrangement of music. Thank you for this.
