".... as I begin playing with option A and option B, out of nowhere SECRET OPTION C makes itself known. This surprise is not a curse. It’s a gift."

YES to ** SECRET OPTION C **!!

This lesson keeps coming. Gedankenexperiments only go so far. I have to start trying things out — in business, in poems, in friendships, in hobbies — for new ways and revelations to reveal themselves.

Thanks for walking us through this poem-building process, step by step. So helpful.

Dear Maggie, I finished reading and thinking about your memoir. It is perfect, filled with gorgeous sentences, like poetry, and ideas that are precious. Motherhood is such a blessing and I love Violet and Rhett, too. Good job holding them together. I have been married for forty years and once or twice thought about divorce. Your story helped me know why I did not. Thanks for leading the way with lanterns while I tenderly followed you. ❤️

Your method might help me with endings. I always struggle with how to conclude my stand-alone memoir pieces. I have a deep fear of misplaced sentimentality or cheesiness. Yet I've also been given feedback that directs me to expanding my endings, to explain more. I'll try the loose grip next time.
