It seems such a mundane thing to name a joy, but after years of pandemic layoff and then trying, in vain, to cob together a steady income just from freelancing, I am so filled with joy to have a steady job that pays me a reasonable wage so that when I read something like this and the mention of a book sparks my curiosity or excitement I can just... order it. Truly, if all I ever manage in this life is to raise my kids, pay my bills mostly on time, love my people well, write anything that is of use to anyone, and buy books that excite me, I will consider that a very, very good life.

Fun fact about that perfume--poet extraordinaire Patricia Smith asked about it after giving me a hug at the Palm Beach Poetry Festival a few years ago, and then bought it for herself! I love that a couple of Smith poets have that scent in common now.
