I feel so seen. You have named exactly how I use the Big Online Store That Shall Not Be Named -- as a place to hold my book and art supply wish lists until I can get to the local indie stores to give them my business!
thanks for the shout out to local indies... ours is a life saver not just for books and things, but patio, conversation, community ... here's a plug for the Ivy Bookshop in Baltimore, and its sister, The Bird in Hand ... they have fabulous readings. If ya'll visit MD, give them a peak!
Minneapolis' Magers & Quinn is indeed excellent. But there are many more excellent indie bookstores in the Twin Cities, including Louise Erdrich's store Birchbark Books, Moon Palace Books, Cream & Amber, Subtext Books, and Next Chapter Books.
Maggie! So incredibly honored for my book to be on your list. And in such amazing company. Danusha Lemeris! Ada Limon! Molly Spencer! Dorianne Laux! Diane Suess! Victoria Chang! Cynthia Marie Hoffman! Like, all my favorite poets. Swoon. Thank you. XO. Sending love your way. Can't wait to check out your new book. Pre-ordered.
Thank you for the impressive list of 22 books, but difficult to know where to look without calling up 22 links - maybe I should just pick 2 or 3 at random?
Shout out to The Bookshelf in Thomasville, Georgia and Midtown Reader in Tallahassee, Florida! If you're in or around the Big Bend region come through! Midtown Reader also has a pie shop inside the store. Doesn't get better than that, folks.

Yes—community and connection, too. Thanks for the rec!

Thanks for these! It’s such a great area for books and music.

My pleasure, Wendy! And thank you.

Maybe treat it like a book buffet: graze a little, then come back for seconds (or thirds) another time. I hope you find some things that speak to you.

A. Pie. Shop. 😮
Adding it to my list!
So yummy. Thank you, Maggie. ♥️💫📚🐾
What a delicious list, Maggie… and still feeling the light from the class with you and Danusha. 🩷
