Joy - my fig tree is full of figs. Yum! Joy - all my city students showed up for the first day of class on Monday and yesterday, even in the heat! Joy - I am loving Danusha Lameris' poem Small Kindnesses, which I have read a million times but we are practicing being those little temples in my class and it's so much fun! (and my kids are 16-17). AND, I have to say every time I see pictures from anywhere in Ohio I remember how flat it is :) I used to drive regularly from here in MD to Ann Arbor MI, and on the way to MI it was, oh man I'm tired and OH is so flat, but on the way to MD it was, wow, just gotta get through OH and there will be mountains to keep me going! thanks for the music!
This is a lot of good stuff, Thomason! Thanks for sharing it. (And I laughed, because I love the flatness. Driving in the mountains—as I just did, from OH to the NC coast and back—stresses me out! It’s gorgeous but hard for me to enjoy from the driver’s seat.)
Joy for me last night was watching my daughter and niece play high school soccer against a team that was bigger and faster. There's a lot about life girls learn on a soccer field, and seeing them fight for the ball, turn up the speed when they needed to makes me so proud of the young women they are becoming.
Enjoying the Cicadas is one of my Summertime joys that takes me back to childhood. I love Howard Jones and ABC and hope you have a great time. I saw the Doobies and Steve Winwood at Riverbend a couple Sundays ago and it was magical. I’m so excited for you to hold my chap in your hands in November. Happy opening to Fall! Let the bonfires blaze and the beer glisten in its wake!!
Jumpsuits! Specifically two I ordered online from a small, Brooklyn fashion brand called Mixed by Nasrin. As I said in a Facebook post with pics of me sporting the dark denim, wide-legged one with brass snaps yesterday, "One step dressing AND it has pockets?!? What more could you ask for?"
I also got one in a fitted-leg style with a jungle print. My 21-year-old son saw me in it and commented with delight, "That is seriously Ms. Frizzle-core." Now, that's joy.
Asha, I know these jumpsuits! The prints are incredible. I always take a couple of jumpsuits with me when I travel—Alex Mill & Pistola are my go-to brands, and sometimes I’m lucky enough to find them on sale or secondhand.🤞
what an absolute honor to be in your read/TBR stack Maggie!! Lord knows I’ve got all of your books in mine (READ obvs) thank you!
Gila, read and really enjoyed it! Thank you.

I discovered the music of jazz vocalist Sarah Lenka and have been basking in her sound all weekend.
Thanks for the rec, Anita!

Looking forward to all of this, Kevin.
Howard Jones! SO jealous!!!
Ack, I ended up missing the show--sick kiddo. But we listened to him very loud here and sang along!

I also really covet a few of the Wild Fang ones. Mrow.
I have one with eyes all over it! 👀
I will check those out! Mixed had a sale recently, so I finally took the plunge and I'm so glad I did.
